Business Plan Analysis

Question: Describe about the business plan. Answer: 1) Business Topic When I think of business, what comes to my mind is, to own many good service station sites. Further,With 17.6 Million vehicles registered (year 2014 according to Motor vehicle census)(Dean, 2015) in Australia, fuel station can be seen a good business to start in such a good expanding market. Furthermore, talking more specifically, I like to start with a Caltex site as, it is a very good brand with a marvelous hold in Australia. Although, it has a tough competitions with Shell, 7 Eleven and BP, but not to forget a good hold too. 2) Research questions and Problems: Any new business plan comes lot many questions to be answered and have to deal with many problems too. So, what came to mind first when I thought of this was: How much does a fuel station cost? Like how much money you have to pay for brand, land and machinery and all other stuff. What would be your expected customer base? Like which fuel like in mining area, you have to keep diesel in high quantity. How much personnels you need? Like how much staff and working capital. What would be the return on investment? Like how much time it would take to reach a breakeven point. Who would be the vendors? Like who are the vendors for all shop stuff nearest and cheapest. Have to ask for their quotes. How can I advertise it? Like what would the strategies to increase the customer base. How much can I expand this business after a successful first investment? In how much time of the first investment can you expect to expand your business like but more sites? 3) Literature review According to Capar et al (2013), the fuel station is a service station which offers a range of fuel products for motorists including diesel, petrol and liquid Petroleum gas or LPG. The fuel stations comprises of the pumps and hoses with the turnover of petrol varying on the size of the station of the firm. According to Mustafa (2015), the fuel station site should be chosen to be sufficiently spacious in its design such that to minimise the risk involved to any individual which would be likely to be occurring at the fuel station. Fuel business The governance of the fuel station is implied by the legal requirements where the owner is required to purchase the liability insurance of the site. This could be the highly individual business to run which requires agencies According to Huijts, Molin and Van Wee (2014), the greatest skill required to maintain and run a successful fuel station is the ability to hire the best and the most conscientious employees. The fuel business cannot run itself on its own. Thus, the maintenance of the station requires enough employees for covering at all the times related to the business process. The fuel station is a business that serves both the passing trade and the locals. The fuel business needs to be providing good customer service. The industry is a high turnover business and thus, it require a good accountant of operation which includes the resources vital for running the business profitable in the long run. Required Skills Organisational skills required for maintaining the fuel stations is in understanding the requirements of the customers, working on retail product revenues and stick ordering on a regular basis. According to Huijts, Molin and Van Wee (2014), the placement of the stock order is the primary option for maintaining the supplier relationship. The owners must be considering the delivery methods and processing time of the vendors while preparing the orders. In addition, the actual delivery of the fuel should be checked for accuracy. Besides, the owner of the station is also required to keep up with the capital aside and which should not be phased by dealing with the large amount of deposit cash on a daily basis. Setting up According to Weber and Hitaj (2015), the fuel stations are larger than the average small businesses which requires the land and building to be leased and thereby costing an additional expense for establishing the same. Moreover, the gas fuel station is not a cheaaper business to buy while, being the most lucrative business in the market. According to Greene and Duleep (2013), getting the fuel margins would be helping in making all the difference to the financial health status of the fuel station. The most common way to measure the earnings is to evaluate the annual sales revenue. The fuel station is likely to generate more than the asking price annually although, the overhead and taxes including the fluctuating cost of the fuel is to be deducted from this amount. According to Greene and Duleep (2013), the most advantageous thing about the fuel station establishment is that the new investment and smart ideas of the owner would be helping the busianess to increase the profitability in the future. 4) Research methodologies Research methodologiesprovide an evidence base for decision making. It consist like the methods used for research. It can be practical research or theoretical research. So here to research about service station we can use more of practical research which further consist Questionnaires Surveys Interviews Observation Discussions So in our case, we need to do online and practical surveys, interviews, discussions and observations. It is difficult to select one method of research because each method has its importance and skipping any step can result in wrong investment. 5) Research process It begins with collecting appropriate infolike by meeting real estate dealers, Site seeing. Site seeing is important too as it would be the base for the whole project. This can be done nowadays through online websites. For example, as I was going through stuff on this website I came across a site in a small town which doesn't even has Woolworths or Coles and nearest Mac-d is 3 hours away. So having a service station in that town with a population of 1200, one need to keep groceries and would earn major chunk from food and groceries(Businessforsale.com.au, 2016).Furthermore, on a different, collecting information regarding Caltex franchise, what are the things one needs to know like their requirements and how much time will it take to compete all the requirements, info about borrowing funds, have to search for the lowest interest rates or from government schemes. Further, have to have a research objectiveand it is believed that, to be successful in any field you have to aim high. Here it means, research has to be intensive about Caltex and other service station sites, like others profit margins and breakeven and comparing it with Caltex fuel stations. Moreover have to select a research methodology, which best suites the type of business you are starting. Here as mentioned above you need more of surveys, observations and discussions with other franchise owners, manager of other sites and asking real estate experts. Furthermore, secondary and primary researchconsists of collection and discussions through internet and through observations and interviews. Use of tables for data analysis and final report would end the research process. Difference between literature review and a survey When we talk of survey, it is mainly more of a practical or physical thing to do. On another hand, Literature review involves paper and pen. Literature review is more of a theoretical stuff. It means to write a review of any research with reference to relevant theory. 6) Data collection and analysis Data collection can be done in many different ways. So for any research, data collection can start with simply going online through websites as, Internet has connected whole world, otherwise it was very difficult to go far off places for data collection by surveys. As off now, we can find research outcomes on websites or can post a blog asking questions and you would find couple of relevant answer within few hours. Online survey for literature review can also be done survey monkey. Other ways to do survey nowadays can be through emails or through social media, posting for comments on Facebook in several groups. Talking more specific to topic, survey could be conducted in particular suburb, observing the type of vehicles people own ( diesel or petrol or LPG) in that area and which community has majority and their eating habits (processed foods like pies, sandwiches and sausage rolls, donuts, coffee, tea etc.), even though cant change much if it is franchisee, but in case of free hold station, we can do much more things of our choice and for that intensive surveys need to be done even involving door to door knocking. Collecting data of competitors in that area and studying their weaknesses and strengths, their customer base etc. Collected information can be made meaningful with the help of descriptive statistics like, Excel and SPSS. 7) Expected Research outcomes After studying the collected data, it can be said that, service industry in Australia is still in a childhood phase and pretty many things are still to be discovered. There are highways with no fuel stations, people travelling have to carry big jerry cans, and some of them even stretch more than 1000KMs. If I was given a chance to open fuel station in India, I wouldnt have done that as there is hardly any highway left without fuel pump and you cant set fuel prices by yourself, as prices are imposed by government, further people prefer to buy stuff from their regular wholesalers and retailer and they do not change their preference very often. I expect fuel station is a good business to start in Australia than many other countries. Reference Businessforsale.com.au. (2016).Business For Sale - BusinessForSale.com.au. The Architecture of Sleep and the Function of Dreams free essay sample

Also, while sleeping there are cycles and changes along its course. These cycles are related to changes in brain electrical activity and we dont dream in all of them. We cycle through five sleep stages in about 90 minutes (Rosenzweig, 1992). These cycles are repeated 4-5 times throughout the night. The five sleep stages are: ?Stage 1. Numbness, transition state between sleep and wakefulness. This period can produce micro-sleeps and hallucinations. The electroencephalogram shows brain activity slower than in the waking state. ?Stage 2. Light Sleep (in which we spend the most time) follows about 20 minutes later. Lowers the heart rate and breathing. During this stage the brain calm periods alternate with other activities. ?Stage 3. Transitional stage to deep sleep, takes a few minutes. ?Stage 4. Delta wave sleep. Its a slow sleep in which both, the breathing rate and brain waves, are slow. Its very hard to wake up in this stage, dreams do not usually occur. We will write a custom essay sample on The Architecture of Sleep and the Function of Dreams or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Then we go back to stage 2, is at this moment when we enter a new physiological state called REM sleep, and what characterizes this stage are rapid eye movements; REM sleep is a recurring sleep stage during which vivid dreams commonly occur. Also know as paradoxical sleep, because the muscles are relaxed (except for minor twitches) but other body systems are active (Myers, 2010). While we sleep, deep sleep cycles, where the body rests and repairs itself, are alternated with sleep and dream, or REM (rapid eye movement) where the body is paralyzed, which is primarily a function of repair and management of emotional content. The REM stage lasts approximately 20 minutes each, that is, we come to dream for about 100 minutes spread over the night. The dreams that we remember when we wake up while we are in a REM stage are typically longer, sharper (almost taking the form of hallucinations), more animated, change scenes fast, and they are more rare and quirky, more emotionally charged, and less related to our normal life than the ones in non-REM stages. On the contrary, the ones from non-REM stages contain more representations of our daily concerns and they are more of a thinking and less like images (Hobson, 2000). Hobson also mentions the following characteristics of REM dreams, which occur in them often and rarely in non-REM dreams: 1. Contain hallucinatory perceptions. 2. The images change rapidly and are rare and bizarre, but also relate to our everyday lives. 3. They are so vivid that sometimes make us wonder whether we are asleep or awake. 4. Rational reflection in dreams is absent or greatly reduced, although it is now thought that the reflection, self-control and other meta-cognitive ways are more common than we previously thought. 5. Dreams are lack of stability in orientation, therefore, places, times and people are mixed together. 6. Dreams create stories to integrate all elements of the dream in a more logical narrative. . The dreams increase and intensify the emotions, especially fear and anxiety that seem integrated into the rare features of sleep and can even make a narrative of the dream. 8. Dreams show a increased incorporation of instinctual programs, especially those related to fight or run which may also act as organizers of dream cognition. 9. Voluntary control is highly attenuated. The dreamer r arely considers the possibility of actually control the flow of events of the dream and on the few occasions when this happens, the dreamer can only gain in clarity and for only a few seconds. However, other more common forms of control may be more common in sleep. 10. One reason for the description of REM dreams to be longer is that they have to explain the bizarre images that compose it. Dreams have little relation to what we think or do before bed, so we cannot think of dreaming to solve problems. Sigmund Freud and his school of thought, Psychoanalysis, have distinguished between two types of content of dreams, the manifest content (apparent) and the latent content (what really is), and this is where the analyst comes in, to interpret it. â€Å"Freud considered dreams the key to understanding our inner conflicts. (Myers, 2010) We havent been able to exactly explain why we dream but there are many theories for this. There are five major views of the function of dreams. ?Freudian: to provide a safety valve, with manifest content (or story line) acting as a censored version of latent content (some underlying meaning that gratifies our unconscious wishes). ?The information -processing perspective: to sort out the day’s experiences and fix them in memory. ?Brain stimulation: to preserve neural pathways in the brain. ?The activation-synthesis explanation: Dreams are the result of random neural activity in our brain. The cognitive development perspective: Dreams represent the dreamer’s brain maturation and level of development, knowledge, and understanding. Most sleep theorists agree that REM sleep and its associated dreams serve an important function, as shown by the REM rebound that occurs following REM. (Myers, 2010) Finally, and beyond these Freudian questions of interpretation or the ones that gave a predictive value to dreams in ancient history, dreaming turns out to be a state required and recommended for both health and the good performance of daily activities. Sleep, rest, turns out to be essential to improve the quality of life of human beings, and to remain non-stop for several hours is harmful, for example, for the attention we can pay to things; obviously, it will be much lower if we are restless. Ideally, human beings should sleep eight hours a day to recharge batteries so we can start a day with activities. References: Myers, D. G. (2010). Psychology 9th edition in Modules Worth Publishers.

Table of mRNA Codons and Properties of the Genetic Code

Table of mRNA Codons and Properties of the Genetic Code This is a table of mRNA codons for the amino acids and a description of the properties of the genetic code. Genetic Code Properties There is no ambiguity in the genetic code. This means each triplet codes for only one amino acid. The genetic code is degenerate, which means there is more than one triplet code for many of the amino acids. Methionine and tryptophan each are coded by just one triplet. Arginine, leucine, and serine each are coded by six triplets. The other 15 amino acids are coded by two, three, and four triplets. There are 61 triplet codes for amino acids. Three other triplets (UAA, UAG, and UGA) are stop sequences. The stop sequences signal chain termination, telling the cellular machinery to stop synthesizing a protein. The degeneracy of the code for the amino acids coded by two, three, and four triplets is only in the last base of the triplet code. As an example, glycine is coded by GGU, GGA, GGG, and GGC.Experimental evidence indicates the genetic code is universal for all organisms on Earth. Viruses, bacteria, plants, and animals all use the same genetic code to form proteins from RNA. Canceling Third World Debt

There are many compelling arguments for canceling third world debt. However, regardless of how morally wrong, third world debt relief will not go very far in solving the myriad of causes underlying the poverty crippling these countries in the first place. Canceling the debt is just one step in the process. Industrialized countries must also be willing to reform world trade laws, drop subsidies that insulate the world markets, fight graft, and help poor countries eliminate the corruption that permeates their systems. Plagiarism Detection >Examples of this systemic corruption can be seen in the countries of Kenya, Zimbabwe, DRC, Nigeria or Tanzania. These so called indebted and poor countries are some of the richest in the world in natural resources who at the same time, have a well educated work force. Yet the people are poor because their government abuses them and their resources, keeping the wealth for a few rather than for all. Canceling the world debt will not trickle down to the people as long as corrupt government officials stand in the way.Canceling the debt may encourage more bad economic policy choices, while at the same time allowing irresponsible lender governments off the hook, free to form new alliances with criminal regimes. Much of this so called debt was merely a way for developed nations to carve out a stake in the natural resources of the poor country, in order to protect their personal interests. By canceling the debt corrupt lending countries can hide their complicity in the denigration of the poor country and its people. Hanging a blanket cancellation onto a country also means that it is not a creditworthy nation in the eyes of other world governments, making things worse. Plagiarism Detection >Nor does it stop the cycle of criminality, because the countries must still borrow in order to survive and meet their other debts in the future. One way third world countries can get out of the financial and poverty inducing rut is to stay away fro m the patronage of rich nations who put them in trouble in the first place. Another way is to demand respect and proper treatment from creditors while eliminating the corruption endemic in their governments. It has been proven over and over again that the criminality and graft is a two way street. International law already allows countries to repudiate debt contracted without the consent of, nor spent in the interests of the people.Under international law citizens of a country do not have to repay those financed their oppression such as America propping up tin hat dictators like Mbutu, to name one. What seems to be lacking is a will to eliminate the underlying root causes of third world problems. The tools for doing such are already there waiting to be used. Third world debt cancellation is merely addressing a symptom that will only give very short term relief while allowing the problem to recycle and become entrenched again. Breaking the cycle is the only way to alleviate the prob lem on a more permanent level.

Organizational Design and Culture Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Organizational Design and Culture - Essay Example Earlier Home Depot was following decentralized organizational process. Due to increasing competition within the market place the organization decided to bring change in the organizational design. They transformed to centralization process in order to concentrate the decision making authority at the higher levels within the organization. Maintain appropriate balance between the centralization and decentralization process is huge challenge for several leading global organizations. Home Depot is one of the global retail giant. The organization has more than 2000 retail stores across the globe (Griffin, 2007). This centralization process allows the store managers to undertake several decisions independently and autonomously. Therefore, it can be stated that each retail outlet of Home Depot has entrepreneurial work culture. This process helped to save lot of money and increase business productivity. This centralization process helps the company to reduce operational cost as the company ne gotiates effective discounts from the existing suppliers. Home Depot follows flatter organizational hierarchy. The organizational hierarchy of Home Depot consists of few layers. Flatter organizational hierarchy helps an organization to provide its employees huge level of self actualization and greater satisfaction needs. At the same point of time there are several disadvantages too. Due to limited management layers, this organizational structure cannot provide effective advancement opportunity to the employees. Home Depot implemented multidivisional structure in their departmentalization process. This divisional structure helps to represent several unique employees, geographic locations, customers, products and services for the organizations. Formalization structure is one of the important and effective tools of Home Depot’s organizational design. Formalization structure helps to develop effective rules and regulations. Due to this structure the employee behavior becomes more predictable. This structure helps the employees to follow the specific guideline or legal organizational procedure of an organization in a critical situation. This strategy is generally utilized in the service industry. Mechanism structure is another organizational design tool of Home Depot. This organizational structural tool is very much centralized and formalized. Home Depot follows formal communication process with the help of this structure. This structure forces the employees to follow discipline and take effective responsibility depending upon the job role. This st ructure helps an organization to maximize the organizational efficiency and minimize the operational cost. Question 2 Home Depot employed an effective corporate culture in order to support the business strategies. The organization follows cluster strategy to utilize the work group in the organization. Child Abuse Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Child Abuse - Research Paper Example Children are a blessing from God and deserve love just like anyone else. However, in the recent past many researches have indicated that several children are being abused. This should come as a bad news especially in this 21st Century where the youth form a large percentage of the population. According to some researchers like Besharov et al (2001), there are many cases which go unreported, uninterrupted or misreported. According to stop it now (www.stopitnow.org) a world organization that prevents child abuse, reports that a third of girls and nearly 1 in seven boys experiences sexual abuse while statistics suggest from research suggest that only 12% to 30% of the cases are reported. Families mostly deny child abuse within their homes. In one of the cases reported in stop it now, one woman had been sexually abused by his brother but she kept quiet for fear of being killed, after sensing that her niece will fall in the same trap she finally reported the matter to their family but the family did not believe her and so nobody took action on that case. Most powerful people go unreported if they are found abusing children because people find it hard to talk bad things about them. Since nearly all states passed the mandatory laws requiring any suspected child abuse to be repor ted, child abuse cases has been on the rise. This result in many cases being reported which are baseless (Besharov et al., 2001). Melissa (2009), says that child abuse can be considered to be any act that causes physical body injury, psychological or emotional torture. These acts causes suffering to the child and sometimes may be harmful enough and eventually may lead to death or permanent damage of victims.
